Let’s act in time for children's well-being
Obesity is assuming alarming proportions in the city. In a startling finding, it was observed that every third child studying in a private school in the city is obese. Government schools also do not fare any better. The survey conducted by diabetes Foundation of India and National Diabetes, Obesity and Cholesterol Foundation (N-DOC) says obesity puts these children at the risk of developing diabetes and doctors say strict measures to control diet are needed to check this.
Besides diet, active sports can go a great deal in helping children to be strong men and women. Unfortunately, there are not many facilities in most of the societies to achieve this end.
However, our society does have space. We can definitely pool in our collective wisdom and find out ways by which the health of the children can be protected.
It is time to act. Remember, the pills (for diabetes, BP etc) which we start taking in 40s and 50s will be thrust upon our children in their 20s and 30s if we do not promote active sports among them. Competition in life is only going to increase, and so will be the stress.
I will request the management, and all the members/residents/tenants to pool their resources for a workable plan. thanks.

Atul Sondhi (Tenant)
